180 days isn’t enough.
There. I said it.
In New Zealand the school year is longer. It generally starts at the beginning of February, and has four 10-week terms, separated by 2-week vacations. Then the long summer break is 6 weeks long.
So the school year is just under 200 days (there are a few holidays off, but most of them fall during the vacations). It took some getting used to when I first moved here, but now that I’ve been through a couple of NZ school years as a parent, I think the number of days feels just about right.
